MS Dhoni's Absence in Final League Match

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will not have MS Dhoni available for their last league match against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Reports indicate that Dhoni has returned to his home in Ranchi and will only rejoin the team if they advance to the playoffs. This season, Dhoni has not played for CSK due to a calf injury that sidelined him during the initial phase, and he was unable to participate in the concluding match at Chepauk against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

CSK's batting coach, Michael Hussey, confirmed this news, stating that Dhoni would return if the team qualifies for the playoffs. He mentioned, "I can confirm Dhoni is not here with the team, but if we do happen to qualify, then he’ll definitely join back up with the squad. He’s got a bit of a sore thumb. It’s recovering nicely, but he won’t be ready for this match. If we can manage to get through to the playoffs, then hopefully he’ll be alright."

There has been ongoing speculation regarding Dhoni's retirement, yet he has continued to defy expectations. However, with IPL 2027 approaching and Dhoni turning 45, a comeback may prove challenging. Despite this, as he has not made any official retirement announcement, fans remain hopeful of witnessing their beloved Thala hit massive sixes for CSK.

CSK's Path to Playoffs

Currently, CSK sits in seventh place on the points table, having secured six victories against seven losses. To keep their playoff hopes alive, they must win their final match against SRH. However, a single win will not suffice; they also require the Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals to lose their respective final matches. If this scenario unfolds, CSK, RR, and the Delhi Capitals, who are set to face the Knight Riders, will all be tied at 14 points, with the team boasting the superior run rate advancing to the playoffs.
