Chennai Super Kings Struggling in IPL 2026

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are experiencing a tough season in IPL 2026, currently sitting at the bottom of the standings with only one point. The team's performance has been hampered not only by a lack of synergy but also by a series of injuries. A significant concern for the franchise is the absence of the iconic wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni, who is still recuperating from a calf injury and has yet to participate in any matches this season. However, there is optimism regarding his return.

Recent reports suggest that MS Dhoni is nearing full recovery and may make his comeback against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 14 (Tuesday) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He recently completed a fitness assessment and is scheduled for another evaluation soon.

Dewald Brevis Set to Make His Comeback

In addition to Dhoni's situation, CSK faced another setback with the injury of South African batter Dewald Brevis, who was ruled out before the tournament due to a side strain. The good news is that he is expected to return to the field against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 11 (Saturday).

During a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel, Brevis expressed his eagerness to return after a lengthy absence. He mentioned that he has been working hard on his fitness and feels ready to contribute. “I’m feeling great. For me as a youngster who loves the game, it is tough to be on the sidelines. But, it has made me more hungry, and I’ve worked on a couple of things off the field in terms of strengthening and I feel good,” Brevis stated. He also shared that his recent training sessions have gone well, and he is excited to get back into action.
