CSK's Roar Event Highlights

On March 22, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosted a grand event named Roar at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, showcasing the franchise's rich history alongside its future. The spotlight was undoubtedly on MS Dhoni, the sole player who has been with CSK since its inception and continues to represent the team. Fans also warmly welcomed Sanju Samson, who is gearing up for his debut with CSK in IPL 2026 after transferring from Rajasthan Royals (RR). A light-hearted moment between Dhoni and Samson captured the attention of social media, as Dhoni playfully interacted with the newcomer.

During the event, former CSK player Muttiah Muralitharan bowled to Samson, and a missed delivery humorously landed in Dhoni's gloves. Dhoni's playful refusal to dismiss Samson became a trending topic on social media. Muralitharan, who had a successful three-year tenure with CSK, took 40 wickets in 40 matches and was part of the team that won the title in 2010. Currently, he serves on the coaching staff of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where he has been mentoring bowlers since IPL 2015.

As for Samson, he will be playing under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2026. There is speculation that he may take over the wicketkeeping duties from Dhoni, who might participate as an Impact Player. The specifics of Dhoni's role will likely be clarified during CSK's opening match.

Suresh Raina Honored in Hall of Fame

Suresh Raina Inducted into Hall of Fame

In a significant moment during the event, CSK honored Suresh Raina by inducting him into their Hall of Fame, four years after his release from the team. Raina had a remarkable 11-year career with CSK but was dropped from the playing XI in IPL 2021 and subsequently released before the 2022 mega-auction. Despite not being picked in the auction, Raina transitioned to commentary during IPL 2022 and announced his retirement from Indian cricket later that year. He remains active in commentary and continues to participate in franchise cricket.
