Central Delhi Kings Dominate Purani Dilli 6 in DPL 2026 Match
Kings Secure Victory with Stellar Performance
New Delhi [India] - On August 5, the Central Delhi Kings showcased their dominance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 by achieving a convincing nine-wicket win against Purani Dilli 6 in a rain-affected 15-over match held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The Kings delivered a remarkable team effort, with Money Grewal excelling with the ball and Yash Dhull shining with a remarkable unbeaten century during the run chase.
After the match, Grewal commended Dhull's exceptional performance, stating, “Yash is a player who embraces responsibility and leads us to victory. As long as he is batting, we feel confident about our chances, no matter the target. His form has been outstanding.”
Discussing his bowling strategy, Grewal mentioned, “Our approach was to maintain pressure and bowl accurately during the death overs. We believed that if we could take a few more wickets and challenge the new batsmen, it would hinder their scoring. I focused on executing my plans, and fortunately, it paid off.”
Purani Dilli 6, batting first, faced early setbacks as Money Grewal dismantled their top order, leaving them at 55/5 by the ninth over.
In a crucial recovery, Rohan Rathi and Ashwini Chillar formed a significant partnership, adding 85 runs for the sixth wicket. Rathi scored a brisk 46 off 21 balls, while Chillar contributed a steady 38 off 29 balls, helping their team reach a total of 140/7 in their allotted overs.
Grewal was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 3/22 in three overs, while Gavnish Khurana supported well with 2/22, maintaining pressure throughout the innings.
In response, the Central Delhi Kings made quick work of the target, with Yash Dhull leading the charge. He reached his century in just 47 balls, displaying a mix of elegant strokes and powerful hitting, ensuring a smooth chase.
