Brazil Secures Knockout Stage Spot

In a thrilling match held in Miami, Brazil triumphed over Scotland with a decisive 3-0 victory, ensuring their progression to the knockout phase of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The five-time champions showcased their prowess in Group C, finishing with seven points.

Following the match, Casemiro, the seasoned Brazilian midfielder, expressed his joy on social media, stating, "We’re moving on to the knockout stage!!! #VamosBrasil," sharing his excitement with fans.

Vinicius Junior emerged as the star of the match, netting two goals in the first half, while Matheus Cunha added a third after halftime, sealing the victory for coach Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

The Brazilian team took an early lead in the seventh minute, capitalizing on a mistake by Scotland's Scott McKenna. Rayan intercepted the ball and assisted Vinicius, who finished calmly past goalkeeper Angus Gunn. This goal marked a significant milestone for Vinicius, making him the first Brazilian in 24 years to score in each of his country's first three World Cup matches, joining legends like Ronaldo Nazario and Rivaldo from the 2002 tournament.

Brazil maintained control throughout the first half, dominating possession and creating numerous chances. Although Vinicius had a goal disallowed after a VAR check, he soon found the net again, heading in a cross from Bruno Guimaraes just before halftime, giving Brazil a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Scotland struggled to penetrate Brazil's solid defense and fell further behind in the 60th minute. Guimaraes played a crucial role again, driving into the box and assisting Matheus Cunha, who scored to make it 3-0, effectively sealing the match.

Despite a few attempts from Scotland to challenge goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Brazil remained in control. The match also marked the return of Neymar, who made his first appearance of the tournament after recovering from injury, coming off the bench late in the game.

With this victory, Brazil advanced to the Round of 32 as the winners of Group C, alongside Morocco, who defeated Haiti 4-2. Scotland finished the group stage with three points and will have to wait for other results to see if they qualify as one of the best third-placed teams. Vinicius' remarkable performance and Brazil's commanding display have solidified their status as strong contenders for a record-extending sixth World Cup title.
