South Africa's Leadership Change Ahead of Namibia Tour

New Delhi [India], August 11: South Africa is set to introduce a new captain for their upcoming tour of Namibia, with Bjorn Fortuin taking the lead.

The Proteas will kick off their tour with a tri-series that includes hosts Namibia and Zimbabwe, commencing on August 28 in Windhoek. Following this, they will engage in a three-match ODI series against Namibia, as detailed on the ICC website.

All-rounder Duan Jansen, who is the twin brother of South African cricket star Marco Jansen, has received his first national call-up after showcasing impressive performances in domestic cricket.

At 26 years old, Jansen has been a key player in South Africa's domestic white-ball tournaments and played a significant role in the Titans' success in the 50-over competition.

Another uncapped player in the T20I squad is all-rounder Eathan Bosch, while Connor Esterhuizen, Jordan Hermann, and Nqobani Mokoena are also making their ODI debuts. Jordan's brother, Rubin Hermann, joins him in the squad.

South Africa's head coach, Shukri Conrad, stated, “We have selected a single squad for both series as we believe all areas are well represented, providing a fantastic chance for players to enhance their international experience.”

He added, “We witnessed glimpses of Connor and Nqobani's potential during the T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year. It was unfortunate that Jordan sustained an injury in the first match of that series, so we are eager to see him back at this level.”
