Bengaluru FC Triumphs in RFDL Final

Panaji (Goa) [India], April 18: In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025-26 season of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL), Bengaluru FC secured a 1-0 victory against FC Goa at the Bambolim Stadium on Saturday.

This win marks Bengaluru's third RFDL title, reinforcing their status as the most successful club in India's top U-21 league, as highlighted in a statement from RFDL.

During the first half, Asher Rodrigues made a crucial interception in the attacking third, setting up Shaikh Mohamad Ismail on the right flank. Ismail skillfully maneuvered past two defenders but saw his shot comfortably saved by the Bengaluru goalkeeper.

After the break, Bengaluru FC nearly scored in the 54th minute when Haobam Ricky Meetei found Taorem Kelvin Singh with a long pass. Unfortunately, Singh's attempt went just wide of the left post.

Late in the match, Bengaluru finally broke the deadlock. Kelvin's cross from the left led to a scramble in the box, and Ricky capitalized on the opportunity, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner to give Bengaluru the lead.

Despite FC Goa's efforts to equalize, Bengaluru's defense held firm, preserving their slim advantage until the final whistle.

Throughout the season, the league featured 261 matches, with each team participating in 22 competitive games leading up to the National Championship. With 54 teams from nine football-rich regions, the fifth season of RFDL continues to play a vital role in nurturing young football talent in India.
