Beau Webster Set to Debut for Warwickshire at Headingley

Beau Webster's Exciting Debut
New Delhi [India] May 2: Australian allrounder Beau Webster is ready to make his debut for Warwickshire at Headingley, having recently arrived at Edgbaston for a three-month stint with the team.
Webster, who made his Test debut for Australia in January, is expected to participate in seven Rothesay County Championship matches and all 14 games in the Vitality Blast North Group, according to a statement from Warwickshire's official website.
His first challenge will be against Yorkshire from May 2 to May 5, as Warwickshire aims to build on a promising start that includes one victory and two draws in their initial three matches. Standing at six feet six inches, Webster is capable of bowling both medium pace and spin, often within the same over, and joins the squad in excellent form after performing well for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield.
The 31-year-old recently took five wickets in his last match against New South Wales at the end of March and averaged 47.90 with the bat over seven matches, achieving a top score of 113 against Victoria last October.
He made a notable impact on the international stage during the fifth Test against India, where he scored 57 runs in the first innings and remained unbeaten with 39 runs in the second innings, hitting the winning runs.
“I’m fit and eager to start as a Bear. I arrived in Birmingham on Tuesday and jumped straight into training with the team on Wednesday,” Beau Webster expressed. “I’m feeling great and can’t wait to make my debut for the Club at Headingley,” he added.
Last season, Webster played four matches in County Championship Division Two for Gloucestershire, amassing 233 runs at an average of 58.25 and taking 16 wickets at an average of 21.25.
His memorable home debut featured First Class career-best figures of 6/100 against Derbyshire, followed by an impressive 76 runs off just 79 balls.
First Team Coach Ian Westwood commented, “Beau brings proven quality and a strong record, and he continues to improve. He’s a cricketer on the rise, and his recent decision to incorporate seam bowling has added to his momentum. He arrived on Tuesday and trained with the team on Wednesday. He’s a solid addition to the group, both on and off the pitch,” he added.
