Celebrating Cricketing Excellence

New Delhi, March 15: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) celebrated the achievements of India's five World Cup-winning teams during the Naman Awards, held in a spectacular event in New Delhi on Sunday.


The U19 Women’s World Cup champions, captained by Niki Prasad, were the first to be honored, followed by the U19 men’s team, led by Ayush Mhatre, who received a warm reception from the audience.


Former Indian cricketers Sudha Shah and Shubhangi Kulkarni presented awards to the U19 Women’s team, while IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal recognized the U19 Men’s champions.


The Champions Trophy winners, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir, also took the stage. Harmanpreet Kaur led the Women’s World Cup champions, followed by the Men’s T20 World Cup winners, who were greeted with enthusiastic applause.


BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Hon Secretary Devajit Saikia honored the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning team, while BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Joint Secretary Prabhtej Bhatia recognized the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 winners.


India's U19 Women’s team remained undefeated in the 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, clinching the title by defeating South Africa by nine wickets in the final.


Following the U19 women’s victory, the senior men’s team, led by Rohit Sharma, triumphed in the Champions Trophy 2025, overcoming New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai. Rohit’s impressive 76 off 83 earned him the Player of the Match award as India secured their third Champions Trophy title without a loss.


In November of the previous year, the Indian Women’s team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, made history by winning their first ICC title, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the Women’s World Cup final held in Navi Mumbai.


The year 2026 began on a high note for Indian cricket as the nation claimed its sixth U19 World Cup title, defeating England by 100 runs in the final in Harare. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored an impressive 175 off 80 balls, while captain Ayush Mhatre contributed 53 runs, leading India to a total of 411/9 in 50 overs. England was bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs.


Earlier this month, India also secured the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title, dominating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. Batting first, India set a formidable score of 255/5, thanks to Sanju Samson’s 89 off 46 balls and Ishan Kishan’s 54 off 25. New Zealand struggled in their chase, getting bowled out for 159 in just 19 overs, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 4 wickets for 15 runs and Axar Patel contributing with 3 wickets for 27 runs.
