BCCI Clarifies Venue for Upcoming ODI

New Delhi, October 12: Devajit Saikia, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has refuted claims that the opening One Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka, set for December 13 in Delhi, will be relocated to Ahmedabad due to construction activities at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

On Monday, Saikia emphasized that no decision has been made to change the venue, reaffirming that the allocation of bilateral matches adheres to the BCCI's established policies.

He encouraged media representatives to depend on official BCCI announcements for reliable updates.

“The reports indicating that the ODI match between India and Sri Lanka might be moved to Ahmedabad are incorrect. The BCCI has not made such a decision. We kindly ask our media colleagues to consult official BCCI communications for any scheduling updates. It is important to note that the allocation of bilateral matches follows a standard policy,” stated Devajit Saikia.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is already confirmed to host the third and final ODI on December 19.

Sri Lanka's tour of India is scheduled from December 13 to 27, 2026, featuring a series of three ODIs and three T20Is.

The ODI series will kick off in Delhi, followed by matches in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad for the second and third ODIs, respectively.

Subsequently, the teams will compete in a three-match T20I series, with games planned in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune.
