Baranica Elangovan Shines at Bhubaneswar Indoor Stadium
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 3: The Bhubaneswar Indoor Stadium has become a remarkable venue for Tamil Nadu's pole vaulter, Baranica Elangovan. In just under five weeks, the 29-year-old athlete has broken the national record twice, both times at this very stadium.
On Sunday, Baranica achieved a height of 4.23 meters, surpassing her previous record of 4.22 meters, which she set during the inaugural National Indoor Athletics Championships held in late March. She accomplished this feat on her third attempt. "It was another good day for me," Baranica expressed, celebrating her new milestone in women's pole vaulting.
Having relocated from Tamil Nadu to Odisha, Baranica now trains at the Bhubaneswar facility.
In the men's heptathlon, Thowfeeq N from NCOE Trivandrum maintained his lead, finishing with a total of 5350 points. He had a strong start on Day One, accumulating 2943 points.
Kirthik Vasan S from Tamil Nadu clinched the men's U20 heptathlon title with a score of 4609 points.
Purnima Hembram from Odisha triumphed in the women's pentathlon, securing 3835 points, while Jaskiran Kaur from Uttarakhand took home the women's U20 pentathlon title with 3272 points.

Men's U20 Heptathlon: Kirthik Vasan S (Tamil Nadu) 4609 points, Jinoy Jayan (NCOE Trivandrum) 4518 points, Aryan Parkash (Madhya Pradesh) 4509 points.
Women's Pentathlon: Purnima Hembram (Odisha) 3835 points, Isha Chandra Prakash (Uttarakhand) 3671 points, Bidisha Kundu (West Bengal) 3600 points.
Women's U20 Pentathlon: Jaskiran Kaur (Uttarakhand) 3272 points, Priya (Haryana) 3133 points, Alfaz Kaur Grewal (Punjab) 3066 points.
Women's Pole Vault: Baranica Elangovan (Tamil Nadu) 4.23m (NR), Nitika (Madhya Pradesh) 3.90m, Blessy Kunjumon (Kerala) 3.90m.
