Bangladesh's Litton Das Optimistic About T20 World Cup After Series Win Against Ireland

Litton Das Reflects on Series Victory and Future Aspirations

New Delhi, December 3: Following a challenging start in the T20I series against Ireland, Bangladesh captain Litton Das expressed his admiration for his team's resilience. After securing a 2-1 series victory, he shared insights on their preparations for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, as reported by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

In his remarks after the final match, Litton highlighted the integration of new players into various roles, stating that the team is 'almost ready' for the World Cup.

“We have conducted numerous experiments,” he mentioned after the third T20I, according to ICC's official site.

“We made some bold decisions, such as not having Mustafizur Rahman bowl the last over today,” he explained.

“Instead, Mohammad Saifuddin took on that responsibility. I wanted to assess how a player performs after being sidelined for two matches,” he added.

“We have explored nearly every aspect of our game. This group of players is nearly prepared for the next World Cup,” he stated.

After losing the first T20I by 39 runs, Bangladesh rebounded with victories in Chattogram, winning by four and eight wickets in the subsequent matches.

Discussing the team's turnaround, Litton provided an honest evaluation of their recent performances.

“We struggled under pressure in the opening match, but we managed to fight back and win the series. There are many positive indicators,” he remarked.

“While our fielding has not been exemplary, we did make some outstanding catches during this series. We have shown improvement in that area,” he noted.

“Having played the most T20Is in a single year, I believe our players have matured significantly,” he added.

“The credit goes to all players and the coaching staff. Our team has been prepared since the Asia Cup, and we have consistently utilized a select group of players since then,” he said.

“We hope these players will perform at their best in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which we expect them to carry over to the national team,” Litton emphasized.

“My main concern is not individual performances but injuries. We all hope to stay injury-free in the coming months,” he concluded.

Bangladesh is placed in Group C for the upcoming Men's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, where they will face England, West Indies, Nepal, and Italy.

Their campaign will commence on February 7, the tournament's opening day, against West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
