Bangladesh Announces T20I Squad for New Zealand Series
Dhaka [Bangladesh], April 21: Bangladesh has revealed its team for the initial two matches of the T20I series against New Zealand, set to kick off on April 27 in Chattogram.
In a strategic move, the home side has opted for a revamped fast bowling lineup for these opening games, choosing to rest key players such as Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana, according to information from the ICC.
Making his debut in the T20I squad is pace bowling allrounder Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who is also known for his batting capabilities lower down the order.
Additionally, pacer Ripon Mondal, recognized for his effective death bowling, has been included in the squad as a reward for his consistent performances. The 23-year-old has previously participated in three T20 matches for Bangladesh, all during the 2023 Asian Games cricket event.
The second match of the series will also take place in Chattogram on April 29, while the concluding game is scheduled for May 2 at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Currently, Bangladesh is engaged in a 50-over series against New Zealand, having bounced back in the second ODI to secure a six-wicket victory after losing the first match by 26 runs.
