Bangladesh Unveils Squad for ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2026
Bangladesh Announces U19 World Cup Team
Dhaka [Bangladesh], January 3: The Bangladesh cricket team has officially announced its lineup for the upcoming ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2026. Azizul Hakim will lead the team as captain, with Zawad Abrar serving as his vice-captain, according to reports from a sports media outlet.
In preparation for the World Cup, Bangladesh has chosen to rely on players who have demonstrated their skills over the past two years. Remarkably, since the 2024 World Cup, Bangladesh has participated in more Youth ODIs than any other nation, playing 28 matches in 2025 alone and securing 17 victories.
The squad for the Under-19 World Cup 2026 includes:
Azizul Hakim (captain), Zawad Abrar, Samiun Basir, Sheikh Paevez, Rizan Hossan, Shaharia Al Amin, Shadin Islam, Md Abdullah, Farid Hasan, Kalam Siddiki, Rifat Beg, Saad Islam, Al Fahad, Shahriar Ahmed, Iqbal Hossain.
Azizul Hakim and Zawad Abrar have been standout performers, each surpassing 1,000 runs since the 2024 World Cup. In 2025, Azizul amassed 879 runs, including one century and five half-centuries, while Zawad scored 977 runs, featuring two centuries and six fifties. All-rounder Rizan Hossan also made a significant impact, scoring 830 runs with seven fifties and a century in 2025.
The squad also includes the top three wicket-takers from 2025: fast bowlers Iqbal Hossain (34 wickets) and Al Fahad (33 wickets), along with left-arm spinner Samiun Basir (29 wickets). Al Fahad returns to the team after missing the Under-19 Asia Cup in December, replacing Md Sobuj.
Bangladesh faces a challenging Group B, which features India, New Zealand, and the USA. From the four groups, three teams will progress to the Super Sixes, followed by the semi-finals and the final.
