BCB Provides Injury Updates on Key Bowlers

Chattogram [Bangladesh], April 23: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) shared important news regarding pace bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana following the conclusion of the third ODI against New Zealand.


As per the official announcement, Mustafizur Rahman has been recommended to undergo an immediate medical examination after a review by the team's medical personnel. He will then start a rehabilitation program under the guidance of the BCB Medical Team.


Due to his injury management, the BCB has rescinded the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously issued to Mustafizur Rahman, meaning he will miss the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 season.


Additionally, the BCB has decided that fast bowler Nahid Rana will not be released for PSL 2026, allowing him sufficient time to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan next month.


In other news, Bangladesh has announced their squad for the first two matches of the T20I series against New Zealand, set to begin on April 27 in Chattogram.


The team has opted for a fresh fast bowling lineup for the initial matches, resting Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana, according to the ICC website.


Pace bowling allrounder Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who is also a capable lower-order batter, has received his first T20I call-up. Pacer Ripon Mondal, known for his effective death bowling, has also been included in the squad as recognition for his consistent performances.


Bangladesh's squad for the first two T20Is includes: Litton Das (Captain), Mohammed Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan, Mohammed Saif Hassan, Shamim Hossain, Tawhid Hridoy, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Ripon Mondal, Shaif Uddin, and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain.
