Bangladesh's Test Squad Unveiled for Pakistan Clash

Dhaka [Bangladesh], April 27: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed its 15-member team for the inaugural Test match against Pakistan, set to commence on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. This match is part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle.


Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the team as captain, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz serving as his vice-captain for this encounter against Pakistan, according to the ICC.


Among the squad are two players yet to make their Test debuts: Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan. Tanzid has already made a name for himself in limited-overs cricket, having played 34 ODIs and 45 T20Is, accumulating over 1900 runs across both formats. He aims to secure his position in the Test lineup.


Amite Hasan, a 24-year-old middle-order batsman, boasts an impressive First Class average of 49 since his debut in 2019.


Returning to the Test squad are Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, who last played in late 2024, along with spinner Naeem Hasan, who is also making a comeback to the longer format.


Currently, Bangladesh ranks eighth in the World Test Championship standings and is eager to improve their position against Pakistan.
