Bangladesh Cricket Board Reveals Women's Squad
Dhaka, Bangladesh - On August 17, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) disclosed the roster for the upcoming ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026, set to take place in Dubai, along with the 20th Asian Games in Japan. Nigar Sultana Joty, who recently captained the team during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, will continue in her role as captain, as reported by the ICC.
Under Joty's guidance, the Bangladesh team achieved victories against both Pakistan and the Netherlands during the tournament. Nahida Akter has been appointed as the vice-captain of the squad.
Included in the lineup is Sarmin Sultana, a promising top-order batter who made her T20I debut in May and has previously played 16 ODIs.
Sobhana Mostary and Juairiya Ferdous, who showcased their potential in the top order during the Women’s T20 World Cup, have also been retained in the squad.
Shorna Akter, whose crucial unbeaten innings contributed to Bangladesh's wins over the Netherlands and Pakistan, is also part of the team. Ritu Moni adds depth as an all-rounder.
Marufa Akter will lead the pace attack, supported by Ritu Moni and Fariha Trisna.
Bangladesh's Asia Cup journey will kick off on August 31 against Indonesia. The 20th Asian Games are scheduled to occur in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 17 to 22, 2026.
