Babar Azam Sets New Record in Pakistan Super League with 4000 Runs
Babar Azam Achieves Historic Milestone
Babar Azam has made history in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by becoming the first player to surpass 4000 runs. He reached this remarkable milestone during a match against Lahore Qalandars, where he scored 43 runs off 40 balls. Despite a strike rate of 107.50, which is considered below average, he managed to hit one six and three fours. With this performance, Babar's total runs in the PSL now stand at 4004 across 104 matches, which includes two centuries and 37 half-centuries. Since the inaugural PSL season in 2016, he has maintained an impressive average of 45.50.
Beginning his PSL journey with Islamabad United in 2016, Babar played two matches before joining Karachi Kings for six seasons. He later transferred to Peshawar Zalmi ahead of PSL 2023 and has been a key player for them ever since. Recently, he led Peshawar to their fourth victory of the season on April 11, placing them at the top of the PSL 2026 points table with 9 points from 4 wins. Multan Sultans are currently in second place.
After being dropped from Pakistan's ODI squad following the 2026 T20 World Cup, Babar is eager to make a comeback. His performance in PSL 2026, where he has accumulated 212 runs in four matches, including one half-century, could pave the way for his return to the national team.
Top Run-Scorers in PSL History
Following Babar Azam is Fakhar Zaman, who debuted in the PSL in 2017 and has amassed 3039 runs. He is now one of the three players to have played 100 matches in the league. Mohammad Rizwan ranks third with 2853 runs from 87 innings, while Rilee Rossouw has scored 2366 runs. Shoaib Malik concluded his PSL career with 2350 runs, placing him fifth on the all-time list.
