Australia's Tour Plans

Australia has officially announced its squads for the upcoming white-ball tours to Pakistan and Bangladesh. The team is scheduled to engage in three One Day Internationals (ODIs) in Pakistan starting May 30, followed by three ODIs and three T20 Internationals in Bangladesh commencing June 9. Notably, key players such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, who are currently participating in the IPL, will not be part of these series. Instead, U19 captain Ollie Peake and uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott have been called up for the ODIs against Pakistan. Additionally, batter Joel Davies has been selected for the T20I squad for the Bangladesh tour as Australia aims to strengthen its roster ahead of the next World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.

In the absence of several prominent players, chief selector George Bailey emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for younger talent. “It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket and be a part of the national team,” Bailey remarked. He added that the combination of seasoned players with newcomers will create a balanced team for these sub-continent tours. “Continuing to provide opportunities for players to develop across a broad range of conditions and experiences is important and will continue to be a focus over the next 18 months to two years,” he stated.
