Australia's Strategic Changes for the Ashes Test

Brisbane [Australia], December 4: In a surprising move, Australia has decided to omit seasoned spinner Nathan Lyon from their lineup for the upcoming second Ashes Test against England, opting instead for a full pace attack.

The team has made two significant adjustments from the squad that triumphed in Perth, with Michael Neser stepping in for Lyon and Josh Inglis taking the place of the injured opener Usman Khawaja.

Travis Head is set to open the batting for Australia, who will bowl first after England's Ben Stokes won the toss, according to the ICC website.

Pat Cummins, who was considered for a return, will remain sidelined due to injury. Fast bowler Neser, who has claimed seven wickets in his two Test outings, replaces Lyon, marking only the second home Test Lyon has missed since his debut in 2011.

Neser will join fellow fast bowlers Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland, and Brendan Doggett, along with all-rounder Cameron Green.

Khawaja, who experienced back spasms during the first Test of the five-match ICC World Test Championship series, has been confirmed to miss the Brisbane Test.

Inglis, originally from England but who moved to Australia in his teenage years, earns a recall to the team and is set to make his fourth Test appearance in the day-night match at the Gabba.
