Assam Cabinet's Initiative to Promote Sports
Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 9: The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has taken a significant step to enhance the popularity of sports in the region. On Friday, they approved the waiver of the settlement premium for land designated for the Lovlina Boxing Academy.
This decision is part of a broader 76-point resolution that expresses the State Government's appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking 25 years of his dedicated public service, first as Gujarat's Chief Minister and later as India's Prime Minister.
In honor of Lovlina Borgohain, an Olympic medalist and a prominent figure in Indian boxing, the Cabinet decided to eliminate the settlement premium on the land previously allocated to her by the state. This land spans over 3 bighas in Hudumpur village, located within the Chayani Mouza of the Palashbari Revenue Circle. The settlement will now be approved at a minimal fee of just Rs. 1 (One Rupee).
This initiative aims to bolster the development of sports infrastructure and promote boxing and other athletic disciplines in Assam. Lovlina's international accomplishments have not only brought pride to the state but have also inspired many young athletes to strive for excellence in sports.
Additionally, the Cabinet recognized the extensive advancements made in various sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, industry, peace and security, social development, and the preservation of the region's rich cultural heritage.
In a show of unity, the Cabinet adopted the resolution, acknowledging the Prime Minister's vision and leadership, and expressing gratitude for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the populace and the nation's progress.
Furthermore, the Cabinet highlighted the significant boost given to the development of Assam and the North-East, reinforcing the region's integration into the national growth framework.
