Asia Cup 2025 Set for UAE

The men's Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, as announced by Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council.

According to the preliminary schedule obtained by a news source, the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is set for September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium.

Both teams are in the same group and are likely to meet again during the Super Four stage on September 21. India will kick off its tournament against the UAE on September 10, with all its matches expected to be held in Dubai.

Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.

The ACC has permitted squads of 17 players for the 19-match tournament, which will be hosted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Naqvi, who also leads the Pakistan Cricket Board, shared the news on social media, expressing his excitement: “I am thrilled to announce the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The tournament will run from September 9 to 28, promising an exciting showcase of cricket. A detailed schedule will be released soon.”

The decision on the venue was made during an ACC meeting held on July 24, attended by representatives from all 25 member nations.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the official host, the tournament is being conducted in the UAE due to an agreement between India and Pakistan to play at neutral venues until 2027, given the ongoing tensions between the two countries.

As per the agreement with broadcasters, India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group, allowing them another chance to face off in the Super Four stage, with the potential for a third encounter if both teams advance to the final.

This edition of the Asia Cup will follow the T20 format, aligning with the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka.
