Ashish Yadav Secures Silver in Men's Javelin at World Athletics U20 Championships

India's Medal Achievement in Javelin Throw

Ashish Yadav made headlines by clinching a silver medal in the men's javelin throw on the third day of the World Athletics U20 Championships.

His impressive throw of 74.09 meters in the third round earned him this accolade, while fellow Indian competitor T Dharanidharan finished in sixth place with a throw of 72.35 meters.

At just 19 years old, Yadav has now joined the ranks of Indian athletes who have excelled in this event, becoming the second Indian to win a silver medal, following the footsteps of two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra.

Chopra previously achieved gold and set a remarkable world junior record of 86.48 meters during the 2016 championships held in Poland.

The gold medal in this event was claimed by South Africa's Jan-Hendrik Heymans, who launched his javelin to a distance of 80.50 meters, marking the best U20 performance of the season on his final attempt.
