Typically, children emulate their parents, but in a surprising twist, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh's father, Darshan Singh, has been chosen to represent India in the Above 60’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to take place in Mississauga, Canada, in August 2026.


The Veterans Cricket India (VCI) has revealed the final roster of 16 players for the over 60’s Cricket World Cup, which will be organized by the Council of Canada Masters Cricket (CCMC).


Selection for this squad was based on a competitive National Inter-Zonal Tournament and stringent fitness evaluations, showcasing VCI’s commitment to skill, fitness, and mental resilience.


The selected players include UR Radhakrishnan, Verinder Bhoombla, Hyder Ali, Sanjay Ranjan Sinha, Jaison Manjhila, Kanchi Kishore, Sanjay Mahadik, Dinesh Nichrelay, Subramanyam Raju, Ebrahim Jelani, Ashok Vasudevan, Mayank Khandwala, Darshan Singh, Viren Patel, Thygarajan, and Kumaraswami.


India's team is placed in Pool B, competing against England, New Zealand, the USA, Zimbabwe, the West Indies, and Scotland.


Pool A features Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Canada, South Africa, Wolves, and IMC Emerging Nations. The tournament kicks off on August 9, with the final match set for August 23.


Darshan, a former CISF inspector, is passionate about cricket and actively participates in corporate cricket, playing a significant role in Arshdeep's journey from local fields to the international stage.
