Arshdeep Singh's Father Selected for Over 60’s Cricket World Cup
Darshan Singh to Represent India in Cricket World Cup
In a unique twist, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh's father, Darshan Singh, has been chosen to represent India in the Above 60’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to take place in Mississauga, Canada, in August 2026. This is a notable achievement, especially considering that children often follow their parents' paths.
The Veterans Cricket India (VCI) has officially announced the final roster of 16 players for the upcoming tournament, which is organized by the Council of Canada Masters Cricket (CCMC).
Selection for this squad was based on a competitive National Inter-Zonal Tournament and thorough fitness evaluations, showcasing VCI’s commitment to skill, fitness, and mental resilience.
The selected players include UR Radhakrishnan, Verinder Bhoombla, Hyder Ali, Sanjay Ranjan Sinha, Jaison Manjhila, Kanchi Kishore, Sanjay Mahadik, Dinesh Nichrelay, Subramanyam Raju, Ebrahim Jelani, Ashok Vasudevan, Mayank Khandwala, Darshan Singh, Viren Patel, Thygarajan, and Kumaraswami.
India's team will compete in Pool B, which features England, New Zealand, the USA, Zimbabwe, the West Indies, and Scotland. Meanwhile, Pool A includes Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Canada, South Africa, Wolves, and IMC Emerging Nations. The tournament kicks off on August 9, with the final match set for August 23.
Darshan Singh, a former CISF inspector, is passionate about cricket and actively participates in corporate matches. His support has been instrumental in Arshdeep's journey from local cricket fields to the international stage.
