Arsenal's Narrow Victory

London [UK], May 11: A crucial late goal from Leandro Trossard propelled Arsenal to a 1-0 victory over West Ham United, keeping them five points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League standings.

The match was filled with tension, particularly when Callum Wilson's potential equalizer in the 95th minute was disallowed due to a foul on Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya, as reported by a leading sports network.

VAR intervened after noticing West Ham's Pablo had his arm around Raya's neck during a chaotic moment in the box. Referee Chris Kavanagh was directed to review the footage, ultimately ruling out the goal, much to the dismay of the home fans.

After reviewing the incident 17 times, Kavanagh's decision stood, and the crowd reacted passionately. Had the goal been allowed, Arsenal's lead over City would have been reduced to three points, giving the reigning champions a chance to close the gap if they win their upcoming match against Crystal Palace.

With Burnley set to visit Arsenal's home ground and the Gunners preparing for their final match against Crystal Palace, they are on the brink of clinching their first Premier League title in 22 years.

Despite the victory, Arsenal faced challenges throughout the match. They began strongly, but Trossard hit the crossbar twice from the same corner, and Riccardo Calafiori nearly found the net. An injury to Ben White raised concerns about Arsenal's dominance.

Manager Mikel Arteta made tactical adjustments, substituting Martin Zubimendi and shifting Declan Rice to right-back, which allowed West Ham to pose more of a threat. At halftime, Arteta reverted his changes, bringing Rice back into midfield and introducing Cristhian Mosquera. Zubimendi was later substituted, giving West Ham renewed confidence.

Although Arsenal continued to press for goals, their performance was somewhat disorganized. Mateus Fernandes nearly scored for West Ham, but Raya made an impressive save. In the 83rd minute, Trossard scored what could be the defining goal of his career, finishing strongly after receiving a pass from Martin Odegaard inside the penalty area.

Post-match, Arteta reflected on the challenges faced by referees, especially after the disallowed equalizer. He stated, "Today, I realized how challenging and significant the referee's role is, as it can impact the history of two major clubs striving for their goals. The pressure is immense."

He added, "There are still two games remaining. We aimed to win today, and it's essential to be rewarded for that effort. We must adapt to various situations, and we have demonstrated that. What matters now is the present. We've achieved this today, and there are two more matches to go."
