Anukul Roy Joins India A Squad for Sri Lanka Tri-Series
India A Squad Update
On Thursday, the Men's Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the inclusion of all-rounder Anukul Roy in the India A team for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. He takes the place of left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey, who has received his first call-up to the national Test and ODI squads for the home series against Afghanistan, according to a statement from the BCCI.
This tri-series will feature teams from Sri Lanka A, India A, and Afghanistan A, taking place in Dambulla from June 9 to June 21, 2026. Star batter Tilak Varma will captain the squad, while the 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has been impressive in the IPL 2026 season with over 500 runs, is also part of the team.
Riyan Parag, captain of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, has been named vice-captain for the tri-series. The squad is a blend of emerging domestic talents, including Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, and Arshad Khan.
This selection reflects India A's commitment to nurturing young talent for future international competitions, with several players from the IPL and domestic circuits receiving opportunities in the tri-series.
The tournament will kick off on June 9 with India A facing Sri Lanka A. The second match is scheduled for June 11, featuring India A against Afghanistan A, followed by Afghanistan A taking on Sri Lanka A on June 13. The series will continue with India A playing Sri Lanka A again on June 15 and Afghanistan A on June 17. The group stage will conclude with the final match on June 21, 2026.
