In related news, the United States has recently qualified as the 16th and final team for the 2026 ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Zimbabwe, as a Full Member nation, automatically qualified along with the top ten teams from the 2024 edition. Direct entrants include India and Australia, who were the finalists in the previous tournament, along with Bangladesh, England, Ireland, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the West Indies.
The remaining five spots were filled through regional qualifiers. Tanzania made history by securing their first World Cup berth from Africa, while Namibia, despite being co-hosts, did not qualify due to a poor performance in the qualifiers.
In Asia, Afghanistan advanced past Nepal on net run-rate after their match was washed out, while Japan won the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. Scotland secured their spot through a thrilling finish against the Netherlands, and the USA topped the Americas table by defeating Canada, Bermuda, and Argentina.
The tournament will feature 16 teams divided into four groups, with the top three from each group moving on to the Super Sixes. The best two teams from each group will then advance to the semi-finals.
India holds the record for the most Under-19 World Cup titles, having won five times, while Australia, the defending champions, have lifted the trophy four times.
