Anmol Kharb's Tough Loss at Korea Masters

Seoul [South Korea], August 6: Indian badminton player Anmol Kharb faced a challenging exit from the Korea Masters 2026, losing in a gripping three-game battle during the women's singles pre-quarterfinals on Thursday, as reported by a sports news outlet.

Ranked 45th in the world, Anmol was narrowly defeated by Vietnam's Olympian Vu Thi Trang with scores of 23-21, 15-21, 21-18 in a tightly contested BWF Super 300 match held at the Asan Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium.

In the first game, Anmol had four game points but couldn't convert them, allowing Vu to take the lead. However, she made a strong comeback in the second game, leveraging her mid-game advantage to equalize the match.

During the deciding game, Anmol found herself trailing 19-9 but mounted an impressive comeback by scoring eight consecutive points. Unfortunately, her efforts fell short as the Vietnamese player clinched the win.

On a brighter note, reigning Taipei Open champion Tanvi Sharma showcased her skill by defeating fellow Indian Shriyanshi Valishetty with scores of 21-16, 17-21, 21-13, advancing to the women's singles quarter-finals.

Tanvi overcame an early setback to secure the first game, but Shriyanshi pushed the match to a decider by winning the second. In the final game, Tanvi maintained control after the mid-game break, finishing the match in 57 minutes.

Ashmita Chaliha and Rakshitha Ramraj also progressed to the quarter-finals, with Ashmita winning comfortably against South Korea's Kim Min-ji with scores of 21-17, 21-6, and Rakshitha defeating Japan's Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10.

However, India's campaign saw the exit of fifth seed Isharani Baruah, who lost to South Korea's Kim Min-sun with scores of 17-21, 21-18, 21-19, and Mansi Singh, who was defeated by China's Han Qianxi with scores of 21-12, 14-21, 21-17.
