Kumble's Insights for Chakravarthy

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 4: Renowned Indian cricketer Anil Kumble has provided strategic advice to Varun Chakravarthy, India's enigmatic spinner. Kumble suggests that Chakravarthy should focus on delivering the ball away from right-handed batsmen before bringing it back in, a tactic he believes could enhance the bowler's effectiveness.

Kumble's comments were made in anticipation of India's crucial semi-final match against England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to take place at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.

“Perhaps the analysts could examine how often he attempts to take the ball away from right-handers. I haven't observed that frequently. This could be a strategy he might consider. When he brings the ball back into the right-hander, it becomes significantly more threatening,” Kumble noted, as reported by a sports media outlet.

Despite this, Kumble pointed out that batsmen often struggle to read Chakravarthy's deliveries, as they seem to anticipate the ball coming into them instead of looking for variations.

“While batsmen may not consistently pick up on his deliveries, it appears they are primarily expecting the ball to come in, which affects their approach. He might need to incorporate a few deliveries that move away from the right-hander, followed by those that come back in,” Kumble elaborated.

Chakravarthy has emerged as India's leading wicket-taker in the ongoing T20 World Cup, claiming 12 wickets in seven matches at an impressive average of 15.33.

The defending champions secured their place in the semi-finals after a victory over the West Indies in the Super 8 stage at Eden Gardens, with Sanju Samson's explosive innings of 97 runs off 50 balls, featuring 12 fours and four sixes, leading India to a five-wicket triumph.
