Aniket Verma Makes IPL History with Record-Breaking Performance
Historic Performance in IPL 2026
In a remarkable debut for the 2026 Indian Premier League, Aniket Verma made headlines during the opening match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28. The talented batter from Madhya Pradesh showcased his skills with a quickfire 43 runs, continuing his impressive form from the previous season.
Coming in at a challenging position with the team at 137-5, Verma's innings included three boundaries and four sixes, helping SRH reach a total of 201 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, despite a strong performance from SRH captain Ishan Kishan.
Aniket Verma's Record-Setting Achievement
Verma's four sixes set a new record for the most sixes hit by a visiting batter (non-RCB player) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium while batting at number seven or lower. This record was previously shared by four players, including Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya.
Most Sixes In An Innings From Number Seven or Below
| Player | Sixes | Team | Opponent | Year |
| Aniket Verma | 4 | SRH | RCB | 2026 |
| Kieron Pollard | 3 | MI | RCB | 2026 |
| James Faulkner | 3 | RR | RCB | 2014 |
| Ashish Reddy | 3 | SRH | RCB | 2016 |
| Hardik Pandya | 3 | MI | RCB | 2019 |
Only two players from RCB have matched this achievement, with Romario Shepherd being the only one ahead of Verma on this prestigious list. Notably, only Ishan Kishan had previously scored four or more sixes from number seven or below against RCB in IPL history. Verma's score ranks as the third-highest by a player batting at number seven or lower against RCB, trailing behind Shardul Thakur and Pollard.
Despite Verma's stellar performance, RCB successfully chased down the target with 27 balls remaining, thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli (69 off 39) and Devdutt Padikkal (61 off 25).
