London [UK], September 2: Indian squash prodigy Anahat Singh showcased her exceptional skills by defeating Egypt's Mariam Metwally in a commanding fashion, winning in straight games to progress to the next stage of the London Squash Classic.

The 18-year-old athlete completed her Women's Round 1 match in a mere 11 minutes, securing an 11-3, 11-2 victory on Tuesday.

From the outset, Anahat displayed her prowess, swiftly taking the first game 11-3. In the second game, Metwally struggled to respond, as Anahat allowed only two points before finishing the match at 11-2.

With just five points conceded throughout the entire match, Anahat's performance is noted as one of the quickest in the opening round.

As she moves forward, Anahat aims to keep her winning streak alive in the second round of the PSA World Tour event, where she will compete against Belgium's Nele Gill.

Her participation in the London Squash Classic follows her historic achievement in July, where she became the first Indian to clinch the women's singles title at the World Junior Squash Championships held in Canada.

In the final, Anahat triumphed over Egypt's Ruqayya Salem with a score of 3-0, marking a significant milestone in her career.

Throughout the tournament, she maintained complete control, dropping only two games across six matches.

Her journey began with a straight-games victory against Australian qualifier Lilly Wilson, followed by wins over Hong Kong's Pui Yin Chloe Lo and Malaysia's Doyce Ye San Lee, leading her to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, she defeated Egypt's Habiba Rizk 3-1 (11-7, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9) and then overcame another Egyptian player, Barb Sameh, in the semifinals with a score of 3-1 (11-3, 8-11, 11-4, 11-6).

Additionally, Anahat is set to represent India in the squash team at the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
