Amritsar Soormas Fall Short Against Bathinda Royals in Rain-Shortened T20 Clash

In a thrilling T20 match held at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday, the Amritsar Soormas showcased a commendable batting performance despite the rain interruptions during the Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup against the Bathinda Royals.

Due to rain, the match was limited to 11 overs per side. The Soormas managed to score 105 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, but the Royals successfully chased down the target of 106 runs in just 7.5 overs, winning by eight wickets using the DLS method.

Batting first after being invited, the Soormas quickly adjusted to the shortened format. Abhay Choudhary stood out with a notable contribution of 36 runs off 21 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. Rahul Kumar also made a significant impact, scoring 25 runs off 12 balls, which included three sixes and a four. Reavan Preet Singh chipped in with five runs, leading the team to a total of 105/7.

The Royals began their chase aggressively. Harnoor Singh remained not out with 29 runs off 15 balls, while captain Uday Saharan dominated the innings with a remarkable 60 runs off just 20 balls, guiding the team to a total of 108/2 in 7.5 overs.

For the Soormas, bowlers Akash Pandey and Naman Dhir each took one wicket in their respective overs. Although they created some early chances, Bathinda's bold batting approach allowed them to complete the chase with 19 balls to spare.

Looking ahead, the Soormas will aim to build on the positive performances from Abhay Choudhary and Rahul Kumar as they prepare to face the Jalandhar Warriors in their next match on Monday, September 7.
