Zverev Secures Semifinal Spot at Miami Open

Miami [US], March 27 (News Media): Alexander Zverev has successfully reached the semifinals of the Miami Open after a commanding victory over Francisco Cerundolo, setting the stage for a showdown with world number two, Jannik Sinner.

Zverev showcased his skills by defeating Cerundolo with a score of 6-1, 6-2, marking a significant milestone as it is the first time he has reached the semifinals of both the Indian Wells and Miami Open in the same season. This victory also represents his 25th appearance in an ATP Masters 1000 semifinal.

Reflecting on his upcoming match against Sinner, Zverev expressed, as reported by the ATP's official website, "Tomorrow will be the toughest test. I am looking forward to it. I have been feeling quite well, and hopefully it will continue."

Throughout the match, which lasted just over an hour, Zverev maintained complete control, winning 84% of his serve points and converting four out of seven break points.

With this win, Zverev has now claimed his fourth consecutive victory over Cerundolo, taking a 4-3 lead in their ATP Head to Head series. Earlier this year, he also defeated Cerundolo in straight sets at the Australian Open, where Cerundolo struggled to win more than four games in any set across both encounters.

Next, Zverev will focus on Sinner, who currently leads their rivalry 7-4 and has won the last six matches against him, including a victory at Indian Wells earlier this month.

Zverev has shown impressive form throughout this tournament, having not faced a break point in three of his four matches. In contrast, Sinner has achieved an impressive streak of 30 consecutive set wins at the ATP Masters level, a record he aims to extend in the semifinals.

"If it pays off fast, it is even better," Zverev commented on his aggressive playing style. "I was planning on struggling a little bit, but I am feeling well on the court," he added.
