Strong Performances by Indian Players

At the RBC Heritage on the PGA TOUR, Akshay Bhatia and Sahith Theegala both delivered impressive under-par rounds, securing spots in the top 25. Bhatia climbed to T-16, improving from his previous T-25 position, while Theegala advanced to T-25 from T-41 overnight.

Another player of Indian descent, Sudarshan Yellamaraju, finished with a score of 68, placing him at T-53.

Matt Fitzpatrick Triumphs in Playoff

Matt Fitzpatrick, with a score of 70, managed to fend off World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who shot a 67, during regulation play. Scheffler made a remarkable comeback from a three-shot deficit, leading to a playoff at Harbour Town Links, with both players finishing at 18-under.

In the playoff, Fitzpatrick, 31, impressed the crowd with a 4-iron shot from 204 yards, landing 13 feet from the pin for a birdie. He successfully made the putt, securing his second RBC Heritage title.

Career Milestone for Fitzpatrick

This victory marks Fitzpatrick's fourth on the PGA TOUR and his 13th globally, propelling him to a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world. He has recently enjoyed significant success, winning nearly USD 8.3 million across his last four tournaments, including a win at the Valspar Championship following a runner-up finish at THE PLAYERS.

The playoff mirrored a previous encounter where Fitzpatrick triumphed over Jordan Spieth at the RBC Heritage three years ago, with the final hole proving to be particularly challenging.

Scheffler's Near Miss

Scheffler, who was three shots behind with four holes remaining, managed to force a playoff with two late birdies, finishing with a score of 4-under 67. However, Fitzpatrick's only bogey of the day came from a poor chip shot, allowing Scheffler to close the gap.

Despite a strong finish, Scheffler's day ended with a disappointing swing on a 6-iron, which fell short of the hole. He executed a great pitch to 8 feet but did not need to putt after Fitzpatrick's winning shot.

This marks Scheffler's second consecutive runner-up finish, having previously come from 12 shots behind to finish just behind Rory McIlroy at the Masters.

Final Standings

Both Fitzpatrick and Scheffler concluded the tournament at 18-under 268, while Kim finished strong with a closing score of 68, securing third place and marking his fourth top 10 finish of the year.
