Ajinkya Rahane Sets Unwanted IPL Record with Most Ducks
Rahane's Struggles Continue
Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has unfortunately made history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by recording the highest number of ducks ever. During the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, he was dismissed for a two-ball duck, marking his second consecutive failure after a golden duck in the previous game against Gujarat Titans. This brings his total to 12 ducks as an opener in IPL, the highest for any player in that position. The only other opener with more than ten ducks is Parthiv Patel. Rahane had a promising start to IPL 2026 with a 67 off 40 balls against Mumbai Indians, but his performance has since declined, with four single-digit scores in his last seven matches, totaling 152 runs at an average of 25.33, including one fifty.

KKR Register First Win Of The Tournament
In the latest IPL match held in Kolkata, KKR's bowlers, Varun Chakravarthy and Kartik, each took three wickets, restricting Rajasthan Royals to a modest total of 155/9 in their 20 overs. KKR successfully chased down the target of 156 runs, thanks in part to Rinku Singh's unbeaten 53 and a crucial 76-run partnership with Anukul Roy. Varun Chakravarthy was named Player of the Match for his impressive bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for just 14 runs in four overs, which significantly contributed to the Royals' batting collapse. In the post-match interview, Chakravarthy discussed the challenges faced during KKR's rough patch and revealed he is managing two fractures in his left hand. He expressed gratitude towards the coaching staff for their support during tough times and emphasized the team's determination to compete fiercely for the trophy, stating, 'We are here to win every match and make a strong contention for the trophy.'
