Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 30: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honored veteran cricketer Ajinkya Rahane following his announcement of retirement from international cricket.

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Rahane revealed his decision to retire from all formats, concluding a remarkable career that lasted nearly twenty years.

The BCCI expressed gratitude towards Rahane for his significant contributions to Indian cricket through a post on X, wishing him success in his future endeavors.

The post read, "An illustrious career comes to an end. Thank you @ajinkyarahane88 for your immense contribution to Indian cricket and all the memories that will be cherished forever. Wishing you the very best in your next chapter."

Throughout his Test career, Rahane participated in 85 matches and 144 innings, amassing 5,077 runs, which included 12 centuries and 26 fifties, with an average of 38.46 and a strike rate of 49.50.

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he played 90 matches and 87 innings, scoring 2,962 runs, featuring 3 centuries and 24 fifties, with an average of 35.26 and a strike rate of 78.63. In T20 Internationals, he appeared in 20 matches and scored 375 runs, with no centuries and one fifty, averaging 20.83 and a strike rate of 113.29.

Rahane also holds an unbeaten record as a Test captain, with four victories, two draws, and the highest win percentage among Indian Test captains with at least five matches.

His captaincy included a remarkable comeback win in Melbourne and India's historic victory at the Gabba, which ended Australia's long-standing unbeaten streak at that venue during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where India triumphed 2-1.

Additionally, Rahane led India to a vital Test win against Australia in Dharamshala in 2017 and secured a victory over Afghanistan in 2018.
