Afghanistan's Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 Squad Announced

Kabul, Afghanistan - On November 5, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) revealed the team selected for the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025, with Darwish Rasooli appointed as captain.

According to an official statement from the ACB, "The National Selection Committee has finalized the AfghanAbdalyan squad for the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025, which will take place from November 14 to 23 in Doha, Qatar."

Rasooli, who led AfghanAbdalyan to their first championship last year, will continue in his leadership role, as noted in the announcement.

The lineup includes ten players from the previous tournament's winning team, featuring notable names such as Sediqullah Atal, AM Ghazanfar, Bilal Sami, Zubaid Akbari, Mohammad Ishaq, Qais Ahmad, and Nangyal Kharoti.

Fast bowler Abdullah Ahmadzai, who recently debuted in T20 internationals and participated in all three matches during the recent T20I series against Zimbabwe, has also been selected for the upcoming Asia Cup.

AfghanAbdalyan will compete in Pool B, facing off against Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, and Hong Kong, China. Their first match is scheduled for November 15 against Sri Lanka A, followed by games against Bangladesh A on November 17 and Hong Kong, China on November 19.

ACB CEO Naseeb Khan expressed confidence in the team's ability to defend their title, stating, "Having won the last edition, we are excited to retain our championship in Doha. We remember last year's triumph fondly, and I believe this squad will once again make our nation proud."
