Celebrating a Historic Win

On March 12, Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma visited the French embassy in New Delhi, celebrating India's recent triumph in the T20 World Cup.

The French Embassy in India expressed their joy on social media, stating, "We were thrilled to host Abhishek Sharma, who has just returned from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victory. Congratulations to him and Team India on this outstanding achievement. We also wish him the best for the upcoming IPL season."

The 25-year-old opener played a pivotal role in the final against New Zealand, scoring an impressive 52 runs off just 21 deliveries, contributing to India's significant 96-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Throughout the tournament, Sharma accumulated a total of 141 runs, including two half-centuries, and took the final wicket in the championship match. Despite facing challenges early in the tournament with three consecutive ducks, he bounced back remarkably.

Following his stellar performance in the final, Sharma maintained his position as the top-ranked player in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, boasting 875 rating points, as updated by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday.

With this victory, India secured back-to-back T20 World Cup titles, becoming the first team to win three trophies since the tournament began and the first to do so on home soil.

Sharma is set to participate in the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), under the captaincy of Pat Cummins.
