Aakash Chopra Praises Arjun Tendulkar's IPL Debut with Lucknow Super Giants
Positive Takeaways from Arjun Tendulkar's Performance
Aakash Chopra expressed his admiration for Arjun Tendulkar's performance during his single appearance for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026. On his YouTube channel, the former Indian cricketer highlighted some encouraging aspects for LSG, despite their disappointing season. Chopra noted that LSG has discovered a promising finisher in Mukul Choudhary. He also discussed the team's pace attack, emphasizing Arjun's contribution.
"They have unearthed a talent in Mukul Choudhary, which I consider a positive development. He has the potential to evolve into a high-quality finisher. Quality finishers are rare, especially among Indian players, and with Abdul Samad and Mukul Choudhary, they have two options. If they can enhance their skills, the future looks bright," Chopra remarked.
He further added, "Their pace lineup, including Prince Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Akash Singh, and Arjun Tendulkar, performed admirably in the one match he participated in. Mayank Yadav showed improvement towards the end of the season, and Mohammad Shami was exceptional. Excluding Avesh Khan, their fast bowling unit excelled, which is a significant positive they can build upon."
Arjun made his long-awaited debut for LSG in their final league match of the tournament, having joined the team after they had already been eliminated. In his four-over spell, he took one wicket for 36 runs.
Arjun Tendulkar's Journey in IPL
Arjun began his IPL journey with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2021 after being acquired for Rs 20 lakh during the mini-auction. He was retained by MI for Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. His IPL debut came in 2023, where he played four matches, and he appeared in one match during IPL 2024. MI re-signed him for Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, but he remained on the bench that season. Before the IPL 2026 mini-auction, Arjun was traded to LSG, where he managed to play just one match.
