Aakash Chopra Analyzes Delhi Capitals' Struggles in IPL 2026
Aakash Chopra's Insights on Delhi Capitals
Aakash Chopra has expressed his views on the Delhi Capitals (DC) following yet another loss in IPL 2026. The former Indian cricketer believes that DC's chances of advancing to the playoffs are virtually over. In a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, he pointed out the issues faced by Kuldeep Yadav, emphasizing that the spinner's inability to take wickets is a significant concern for the team.
Chopra remarked, "Kuldeep has really struggled with his bowling. He is likely the costliest spinner in the league and has not been able to secure wickets. In fact, he has only taken a wicket in about eight or nine of his last 19 matches for Delhi. This lack of wicket-taking is a major issue for the franchise." He also noted that while Axar Patel bowled effectively, it wasn't sufficient to change the outcome. "Delhi is looking quite distant from success once again. Realistically, it seems like their season is over. The style of cricket they are playing makes it nearly impossible to recover from this situation," he added.
Delhi Capitals' Current Standing
Currently, the Delhi Capitals are positioned 8th in the points table with only 4 victories out of 11 matches, accumulating 8 points and an NRR of -1.154. Their maximum potential points tally is 14. A further loss would eliminate DC from contention in IPL 2026, even if they win their next three matches by substantial margins. The IPL 2020 finalists began their season with consecutive wins against Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians but have since lost two matches to Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, managing only 2 wins in their last seven outings. Other teams like Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are also nearing elimination, each with just 6 points.
