Cricket West Indies Calls for Urgent Review After Test Series Loss to Australia

CWI President Urges Immediate Review

Kishore Shallow, the President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), has recommended that the Chair of the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee hold an urgent meeting to assess the recent Test series against Australia, particularly focusing on the third match.

Starc and Boland Dominate at Sabina Park

In a stunning display, Australia's Mitchell Starc showcased his exceptional speed at Sabina Park, while Scott Boland made headlines by achieving a remarkable hat-trick. Boland's first three deliveries resulted in the dismissals of Justin Greaves, Shamar Joseph, and Jomel Warrican, effectively dismantling the West Indies and paving the way for Australia's commanding 176-run victory.

Emergency Meeting Scheduled

Following Starc's record-setting five-wicket haul and Boland's impressive performance, the West Indies struggled to chase a target of 204 runs, collapsing to just 27 runs in their second innings—the second-lowest score in Test cricket history. In light of this, Shallow announced the need for an 'emergency meeting' to thoroughly review the series.

Invitations Extended to Cricket Legends

The 3-0 series defeat has left the West Indies languishing in sixth place in the World Test Championship standings. To address this, Shallow has invited cricket legends Clive Lloyd, Vivian Richards, and Brian Lara to join the committee, aiming to enhance the discussions during this transitional phase for West Indies cricket.

Collaboration for Future Success

Shallow emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in West Indies cricket, stating, 'This is a moment that calls for collaboration, not division. We need everyone on board: fans, players, coaches, legends, and administrators, if we are to truly move forward.'

Reflecting on the Test Series Defeat

Expressing empathy for West Indies cricket fans, Shallow acknowledged the pain of the recent defeat, highlighting the significance of cricket to the West Indian identity. He stated, 'We are in a rebuilding phase, steadily investing in the next generation, and reigniting the spirit that has long made West Indies cricket a force in the world.'
