Official Mascot and Anthem Unveiled
On Saturday, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Himanta Biswa Sarma, President of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) and Chief Minister of Assam, introduced the official mascot named Peacko and launched the championship anthem for the upcoming BWF World Championships in New Delhi 2026. This event marks the start of the final 30-day countdown to badminton's premier tournament.
The anthem features prominent Indian players such as PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty, showcasing the spirit, ambition, and unity of Indian badminton as it prepares for this significant event, as stated in a BAI press release.
For the first time, all 16 Indian shuttlers are featured together off the court in the anthem, presenting a modern image of Indian badminton ahead of its largest home event in 17 years. Peacko, inspired by the Indian Peafowl, will lead BAI's nationwide fan engagement efforts leading up to New Delhi 2026.
