Concerns Arise as Fast Bowler Arshad Khan Slips Twice During IPL Match

Arshad Khan's Struggles on the Field

In the world of cricket, a fast bowler can occasionally experience a misstep during their run-up, leading to a precarious landing or even a slip, which poses a significant risk. Such occurrences are infrequent, but they were witnessed twice in a single over during Match 64 of IPL 2025, featuring the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 22.

The Lucknow Super Giants were batting first after being put in by Gujarat Titans' captain Shubman Gill. Left-arm pacer Arshad Khan had a disastrous beginning in the second over, slipping and landing awkwardly on the side of his heel. He appeared to be in considerable pain, struggling to regain his footing for a moment. Medical staff attended to him before he resumed bowling, with sawdust applied to the landing area to assist.

Just four deliveries later, Arshad fell again, this time missing his landing entirely, necessitating further medical attention. His teammates, including Shubman Gill, expressed concern for his well-being, while players like Mohammad Siraj, Shahrukh Khan, and R Sai Kishore helped by spreading more sawdust. Fortunately, Arshad managed to finish the over before seeking additional treatment.
