CM Punk Poised for WWE Comeback on Raw Next Week
CM Punk's Anticipated Return
CM Punk is expected to make his return to WWE during next week's episode of Raw, which will be held in Omaha, Nebraska. The former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion was absent from the previous week's show but made a notable appearance on Raw following Wrestlemania 42, where he hinted at a potential match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. At Wrestlemania, Cody successfully defended his title against Randy Orton in the main event of night one, while Punk faced Roman Reigns in the night two main event, where he lost the World Heavyweight Championship.
This marks the second time Punk has headlined a Wrestlemania, but unfortunately, he faced defeat once again. He also lost in the main event of Wrestlemania 41 to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in a triple-threat match.
CM Punk's Absence from Backlash 2026
No CM Punk at Backlash 2026
CM Punk will not be participating in the Backlash 2026 premium live event, as he is currently not involved in any ongoing storyline. However, he may initiate a new storyline following the event. A match against Cody Rhodes is not anticipated in the near future, with their potential clash possibly occurring at SummerSlam or Wrestlemania 43.
Meanwhile, Cody is set to face Gunther next, as the Ring General attacked him on this week's Smackdown, signaling his intent for championship gold. The World Heavyweight Championship will be contested at Backlash, with Reigns defending against Jacob Fatu, who challenged him after interfering during a promo on Raw.
Seth Rollins is also scheduled to compete against Bron Breakker, a match that was initially planned for Wrestlemania but has since been postponed. Additionally, IYO Sky and Asuka will face off at Backlash, while Danhausen is set to team up with a partner to take on The Miz and Kit Wilson. Trick Williams will defend the United States Championship against Sami Zayn.
