Iran's National Team to Train in Tijuana for World Cup

Tijuana, Mexico - Club Tijuana, a prominent football club in Tijuana, has announced its excitement about hosting Iran's national football team during the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. This decision comes as the team relocates its training base from the United States to Mexico due to current geopolitical issues.

The Iranian squad will be based in Tijuana, conveniently located near the US border, while participating in the World Cup matches held in the United States. The tournament is set to take place from June 11 to July 19, with the US, Mexico, and Canada as co-hosts.

In a statement shared on X, Club Tijuana expressed its pride in being chosen as the training camp for the Iranian national team, highlighting the city's welcoming nature, hospitality, and enthusiasm for sports.

"We are honored to announce that FIFA has designated Tijuana as the base for the Iranian National Team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Tijuana is a city that opens its doors to the world, known for its friendly atmosphere, rich culture, and passion for sports," the club's statement conveyed.

Club Tijuana emphasized that both the city and the Baja California region are prepared to showcase their culture and hospitality to the world during the World Cup, enhancing their international reputation on and off the field.

While Iran will be based in Tijuana, all three of their group-stage matches will still occur in the United States. The team is scheduled to compete against New Zealand in Inglewood, California, on June 15, Belgium on June 21 at the same location, and Egypt in Seattle on June 26.
