On June 8, in Odense, Denmark, footballer Christian Eriksen reassured fans about his well-being after experiencing a health scare during a match. This incident occurred nearly five years after his alarming collapse at Euro 2021. Eriksen confirmed that he is recovering at home with his family following a shock from his implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD).

He emphasized that this situation was distinct from the cardiac arrest he faced in 2021 and expressed gratitude towards the medical personnel, teammates, and fans for their unwavering support. Eriksen noted that his ICD functioned correctly to safeguard him, and he is now focused on recovery, family time, and taking a break from football.

During an international friendly against Ukraine, Eriksen collapsed in the 65th minute. Fortunately, he received immediate medical attention and was able to walk to the ambulance afterward.

In an Instagram post, Eriksen stated, "I want to let everyone know that I am doing well and that I am home with my family. As you can probably imagine, receiving a shock from my ICD has had a major impact on both me and my family, but I want to reassure everyone that this was a different situation from what happened in 2021."

He continued, "I am feeling good, and my recovery has already started. I am incredibly grateful to the medical team on the field and the doctors who have looked after my heart over the years. Thanks to their expertise, my ICD did exactly what it was designed to do: protect me when I needed it. For now, my focus is on recovering, spending time with my family, going on vacation, and playing football with my children."

This incident marks the second time Eriksen has collapsed while playing for his national team, raising concerns among fans and players alike. It brought back memories of his cardiac arrest during Denmark's UEFA European Championship match against Finland in 2021, where he required life-saving CPR and subsequently had an ICD implanted.
