Chris Woakes Joins Elite Club with 150 Wickets and 2000 Runs in Test Cricket

Chris Woakes Achieves Milestone
England's all-rounder Chris Woakes has made his mark by joining a prestigious group of players, including Ian Botham, Andrew Flintoff, Moeen Ali, and Ben Stokes, who have each secured 150 wickets and 2000 runs in Test cricket.
Woakes reached this milestone during the first Test match against India at Headingley, Leeds.
Woakes' Impressive Test Statistics
In his 58 Test matches and 93 innings, Woakes has accumulated 2,008 runs, averaging 26.42, which includes one century and seven half-centuries. His highest score stands at 137*. Additionally, he has taken 181 wickets with an average exceeding 28, boasting best figures of 6/17, alongside five five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul.
Remarkable Achievements in Home Tests
At Lord's, known as the Home of Cricket, Woakes recorded figures of 11 for 102 against Pakistan in 2016, becoming the first England bowler since Ian Botham in 1978 to achieve a five-wicket haul in both innings of a Test at that venue.
He followed this performance with another seven wickets and a half-century in Manchester, along with five more wickets in Birmingham. His 26 wickets at an average of 16.73 set a record for a series between England and Pakistan.
India Takes a Narrow Lead
In the ongoing match, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a stellar performance, taking five wickets and helping to bowl England out for 465 in their first innings, giving India a slender lead of six runs on Day 3 of the first Test at Headingley.
The partnership between Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse played a crucial role in preventing India from extending their lead after Harry Brook was dismissed for 99.
England resumed the second session at 327-5, with Harry Brook scoring 57 off 77 balls and Jamie Smith contributing 29 off 45. The English batsmen aggressively attacked the Indian bowlers, scoring 16 runs in the first two overs after lunch.
Brook's half-century and his key partnerships with captain Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith provided England with a slight advantage at the end of a competitive first session.
At the conclusion of the first session, England stood at 327/5, with Brook (57*) and Smith (29*) not out, trailing by 144 runs. They began the day at 209/3, with Ollie Pope (100*) and Harry Brook (0*) still at the crease.
