Chennai Super Kings Announce Player Replacements

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time IPL champions, revealed on Thursday that Dian Forrester will take the place of the injured Jamie Overton for the remainder of IPL 2026. Overton, a right-arm fast bowler, has been sidelined due to a right thigh injury and will return to the UK for further evaluation and treatment. Forrester has been signed for Rs 75 lakh as Overton's replacement.


Dian Forrester, an all-rounder hailing from South Africa, made his international debut in March 2026 against New Zealand and has participated in five international matches, accumulating 83 runs. CSK's official announcement highlights that Forrester has over 1000 runs in first-class cricket with an impressive average exceeding 45, and he maintains an average of over 50 in List A matches. In T20 formats, he has scored 681 runs with a strike rate surpassing 140.


This season, Overton has been a key player for CSK, ranking as the second-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets at an average of 17.78 and an economy rate of 18.89. He was also named Player of the Match in CSK's last game, where he took 3 wickets for 36 runs, contributing to a five-wicket win against Lucknow at Chepauk on May 11.


Macneil Noronha Joins CSK as Ghosh's Replacement

In another update, CSK announced the signing of all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh. Ghosh, who is a bowling all-rounder, played only one match this season against the Mumbai Indians on May 2, where he sustained a right foot injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Noronha will join the team for Rs 30 lakh.


Recently, Noronha received the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the Naman awards for being the top run-scorer in the 2024/25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy, amassing 1,037 runs in 14 innings with a remarkable highest score of 345 and an average of 79.77.
