Aakash Chopra, the former Indian cricketer, has commented on the recent buzz surrounding Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and their interest in acquiring Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals (RR) during the IPL trading period. According to a report from Cricbuzz, Samson, who currently leads the Royals, has attracted attention from multiple franchises, with CSK being a prominent contender.

A spokesperson from CSK has confirmed their interest:

"We are indeed considering Sanju. He is an experienced Indian batsman, a wicketkeeper, and an opener, which we value highly. If he becomes available, we would certainly explore the possibility of bringing him on board. However, it is still early in the process, and we have not yet begun discussions on trade specifics or potential players involved," the spokesperson stated.

Despite the growing speculation, neither Samson nor the franchises have officially acknowledged the trade talks. However, the conversation has intensified following Chopra's remarks on his YouTube channel, where he suggested that a significant player exchange could occur if negotiations progress.

"Will this trade materialize? CSK has shown interest, but we are not at the stage of discussing specific player exchanges yet," Chopra mentioned.

"If negotiations become serious, Rajasthan might request a high-profile player in return, possibly Ravindra Jadeja or even Ravichandran Ashwin. They have every right to make such demands."

Chopra further explained that CSK's pursuit of Samson aligns with their strategy, especially as they prepare for life after MS Dhoni.

"This move aligns perfectly with CSK's vision. Sanju checks multiple boxes—he is a skilled keeper, a capable top-order batsman, and possesses leadership qualities. With Dhoni's retirement on the horizon, Samson could be a long-term solution," he added.

It remains uncertain whether the potential trade will involve a player-for-player exchange or a cash deal. However, one thing is clear: Sanju Samson has been a key player for Rajasthan Royals since rejoining the team in 2018 and has captained since 2021.
